MST hosted its Instrumental Recital Evening on May 23, showcasing the diverse musical talents of its students. The event was a delightful blend of classical pieces, contemporary covers, and heartfelt performances that highlighted the students' dedication and passion for music.
“I was nervous at first, but on stage I didn’t notice the audience,” said Oak student Jonas, who performed on stage for the first time. “I’m glad I was one of the first ones so I could get it out of the way.”
There was a stunning performance by Julia from the Maple class, who played challenging pieces on the violin, accompanied by her mother on the piano. Their harmonious collaboration was followed by enthusiastic applause.
Saya and Rio from Willow class captivated the audience with their rendition of Bruno Mars' "Talking to the Moon." Both students also impressed with their solo performances, showcasing their versatility and individual musical potential.
A touching moment of the night was the duet by Keats and Evie from Maple class. Their performance of "Together We Stand" emphasized the power of unity and friendship through music.
The Eucalyptus class brought a dynamic range of performances to the stage. Moka, Mona, and Nina did an impressive cover of Madonna's "Secret" and Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why," with Nina on guitar, Mona as the vocalist, and Moka on the piano. Additionally, Moka's solo piano performance further demonstrated her exceptional skill and beautiful voice.
From the Willow class, Azuki's piano rendition of Olivia Rodrigo's "Vampire" demonstrated her ability to interpret contemporary music with technical skill. Junning from the Eucalyptus class served the audience a wonderful piece of Chinese classical music called "Lan Hua Hua" on the piano.
The Instrumental Recital Night showcased the musical abilities of MST students and their hard work shined through. It was a joy to see so many promising new stars giving their best.
As the night came to a close, it was clear that the MST community values and nurtures the artistic growth of its students. The recital was a memorable event that left the audience looking forward to more musical showcases in the future.
